Doshio > Doushiyou > どうしよう > "What shall I do?"

As it shows in the blurb above, ‘doshio’ is my simplified version of the Japanese word ‘doushiyou’, or どうしよう.

The simplest translation of the word or phrase is “what shall I do?” and is generally used in the context of hesitation or uncertainty about what step to take next, or how to resolve a situation.

I don’t speak a lick of Japanese, and I’m not generally a fan of using foreign words and phrases in place of their perfectly good English counterparts, but for whatever reason, this one word struck a chord with me.

I first heard the term used in a song called “Stuck In Your Love,” a song by the crazy eclectic Japanese electronica/jazz/hip-hop group M-Flo.

There’s no proper music video for the song, but this one will do.
