Video: Ghost In The Shell Arise – First Trailer.
The good bulk of all the Japanese anime released in the past 15 years has been utter trash. Formulaic stories loaded with giant robots piloted by children, or children assassins, or… pretty much anything, but with children.
And then there’s properties like Cowboy Bebop, and this one; Mamoru Oshii’s Ghost in the Shell. Rich in believable future technology, political strife, moral and philosophical issues, GitS is some of the finest work every to roll out of Japan.
There’s been a few movies, but it’s the Stand Alone Complex series that has been a real standout for me. Now, there’s a new bit coming: Arise.
Teased with a single piece of character art only a few weeks ago, the first trailer is now online. Check it out above.
The only downside? Yoko Kanno won’t be doing the soundtrack. That dents this fanboy’s heart just a little.
