CASIS x Shepard Fairey. There’s a pairing I never thought I’d see.

Prolific designer and street artist Shepard Fairey – famous for his ‘OBEY’ work and Barack Obama’s ‘Hope’ posters – has unveiled his official design for the patch of a new project on the International Space Station.

The project, managed by Centre for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS), is called ARK1, or Advancing Research Knowledge 1.

The patch will be worn by space workers (astronauts, cosmonauts, what-have-you) involved with the project, which will run from September this year, through to March 2014.

“It’s a really special thing. I’m just flattered and honored that I could create something that becomes just a small symbol of how things can move forward. The excitement of the unknown. To be part of that, is really a cool thing,” Fairey said of the project.

“I just peed a little, seeing the work of a favourite artist paired with the sheer bonkers awesomeness of space science,” Doshio said.

jicoo floating bar

This is a real thing. It’s called the Jicoo The Floating Bar, and you don’t need three guesses to figure out it’s based in Japan.

It’ll also come as no surprise to learn that this bay-riding bar was designed by a manga artist.

I’m waiting for the inevitable film; The Pubseidon Adventure.

All I wanted to do today was stay in and finish this illustration, which I’ve been working on as a header piece for this blog.

Instead I’ve been running errands all day, shopping for a birthday gift and cleaning the house.

Soon, doshio, soon.

Feeling what @DrunkPark and Melbourne’s @EdsThreds1 are putting out.

“Ed’s Threds has been created in memory of Ed Bonnin who tragically took his own life in 2009. The aim of Ed’s Threds is to help others. Each purchase will contribute to research into mental and emotional well being and provide opportunities for life changing experiences funded and supported by The Nettlefold Foundation.”

For Australians, it can be cheaper to buy a return flight to the US and buy a copy of Adobe Creative Suite 6, than to buy a boxed copy here.

Not only are Sydney and Melbourne now among the top five most expensive cities in which to live, in the entire damn world, but now this. Continue Reading…

PJ Tierney is one hell of a graphic artist, but he’s also a full-bottle racing nut. No surprise, then, that he spends most of his time working on art that combines his two loves.

He also likes Yu-Gi-Oh, but we’re not going to talk about that.

PJ’s latest project is Pocket Liveries, a simple and slick collection of iPhone wallpapers inspired by the racing stripes of motorsport’s most iconic teams: pocketliveries.tumblr.com.
